SR-2M

"Compact submachine gun" “Compact power with armor-piercing capability.” SR-2M Veresk The SR-2M Veresk is a compact Russian submachine gun chambered for the powerful 9×21mm cartridge. Designed for close-quarters combat, it provides high penetration capability while maintaining the compact size and controllability expected from a modern SMG. The weapon operates using a gas-operated system with a rotating bolt, which is unusual for submachine guns that typically use simple blowback mechanisms. This system allows the SR-2M to handle high-pressure ammunition while maintaining reliability and controllable automatic fire. The SR-2M features a folding stock, vertical foregrip, and mounting options for optical sights and tactical accessories, making it suitable for modern special operations environments. Key features: Chambered in 9×21mm Gas-operated rotating bolt system Compact design with folding stock Designed for armor-piercing ammunition Optimized for close-quarters combat Historical Background The SR-2M was developed in the late 1990s by the Russian defense company TSNIITOCHMASH. It was designed to complement weapons chambered in the same 9×21mm cartridge used by the SR-1 Vektor. The weapon was intended for Russian security and special forces units that required a compact automatic firearm capable of defeating modern body armor. The improved SR-2M variant introduced upgrades such as a folding foregrip, better ergonomics, and accessory mounting options. Today, the SR-2M is used by various Russian special operations and security units, where compact size and armor-piercing capability are important in close-quarters engagements.
