Armalite AR18

"Assault rifle" “The rifle that inspired the future.” ArmaLite AR-18 The ArmaLite AR-18 is a lightweight, gas-operated assault rifle chambered in 5. 56×45mm NATO. Developed as a more affordable and export-friendly alternative to the AR-15 platform, the AR-18 introduced a simplified stamped-steel construction and a short-stroke gas piston system. Unlike the direct impingement system used in the AR-15, the AR-18 uses a piston-driven mechanism, increasing reliability under adverse conditions. Its folding stock and compact design made it well-suited for airborne troops and mobile infantry. Key features: Chambered in 5. 56×45mm NATO Short-stroke gas piston operation Rotating bolt Stamped steel receiver Side-folding stock Historical Background The AR-18 was developed in the 1960s by ArmaLite as a cost-effective rifle for nations unable to manufacture the more complex AR-15/M16 platform. Although it was never widely adopted by the U. S. military, the AR-18 became highly influential. Its internal mechanism and layout inspired several later rifle designs, including the British SA80 family and other modern service rifles. Production occurred in limited numbers in the United States, Japan, and the United Kingdom. While it did not achieve major commercial success, the AR-18 earned a reputation for rugged simplicity and forward-thinking engineering. If there are any bugs or malfunctions, write in the comments.
