PP-19 Bizon

"Submachine gun" “Spiral-fed firepower.” PP-19 Bizon The PP-19 Bizon is a Russian submachine gun chambered primarily in 9×18mm Makarov, though several variants exist in other calibers. It is instantly recognizable due to its distinctive helical magazine mounted beneath the barrel. Designed for compactness and high ammunition capacity, the Bizon combines familiar AK-pattern ergonomics with a blowback-operated system. The use of a large-capacity helical magazine allows the weapon to carry up to 64 rounds (depending on caliber), providing sustained fire capability in close-quarters engagements. Key features: Typically chambered in 9×18mm Makarov (other variants available) Simple blowback operation Helical high-capacity magazine AK-style controls and layout Compact configuration for CQB roles Historical Background The PP-19 Bizon was developed in the early 1990s by a design team led by Viktor Kalashnikov, son of Mikhail Kalashnikov, in cooperation with the Russian manufacturer Izhmash. Created during the post-Soviet transition period, the Bizon was intended for Russian law enforcement and counter-terrorism units requiring a compact weapon with greater magazine capacity than traditional submachine guns. Although it was adopted in limited numbers by Russian internal security forces, the Bizon was eventually supplemented and partially replaced by more modern designs such as the Vityaz series.
