"Standard U. S. Service Carbine" “Compact power for the modern battlefield.” Colt M4A1 The Colt M4A1 is a select-fire carbine chambered in 5. 56×45mm NATO, developed as a compact and more versatile evolution of the M16 rifle family. It is manufactured by Colt's Manufacturing Company and serves as one of the primary service carbines of the United States Armed Forces. The M4A1 features a 14. 5-inch barrel, telescoping stock, and flat-top upper receiver with a Picatinny rail for mounting optics and accessories. It operates via a gas-operated rotating bolt system derived from the original AR-15/M16 design. Unlike the earlier M4 (which had burst fire), the M4A1 is capable of fully automatic fire. Historical Background The M4 carbine was developed in the 1980s and officially adopted in the 1990s as a more compact alternative to the M16 rifle. The M4A1 variant emerged later to meet the needs of special operations forces, who required sustained automatic fire capability and improved barrel durability. The carbine saw extensive service in conflicts such as Iraq and Afghanistan, becoming one of the most recognizable modern military firearms. Over time, it has undergone numerous upgrades, including improved barrels, rail systems, and accessory compatibility. Today, the M4A1 remains a cornerstone of U. S. infantry armament and a widely exported platform used by military and law enforcement units worldwide. If there are any bugs or malfunctions, write in the comments. I will try to fix them.
