FX-05 Xiuhcoatl

"Standard Mexican Service Rifle" “The Fire Serpent of modern Mexico.” FX-05 Xiuhcoatl is a Mexican-designed assault rifle chambered in 5. 56×45mm NATO, developed to replace older service rifles in the Mexican armed forces. Its name, “Xiuhcoatl”, comes from Aztec mythology and translates roughly to “Fire Serpent.” The rifle was developed in the early 2000s by Dirección General de Industria Militar (DGIM), part of Mexico’s Secretariat of National Defense (SEDENA). It was officially unveiled in 2006. The FX-05 uses a gas-operated rotating bolt system and features a lightweight polymer exterior, integrated carrying handle, and compatibility with modern optics and accessories. Though its external appearance resembles certain European rifles, the internal mechanism was developed domestically. Brief historical background: The FX-05 was created as part of Mexico’s effort to modernize and domestically produce its own standard service rifle, reducing reliance on foreign suppliers. After its introduction, it gradually replaced older rifles in Mexican military service. The rifle remains the standard infantry weapon of the Mexican Armed Forces and symbolizes national defense industrial capability. If there are any bugs or malfunctions, write in the comments.
