Danuvia VD-01

"Experimental High-Velocity Submachine Gun" “Power beyond its class.” Danuvia VD-01 is a Hungarian experimental submachine gun developed in the late 1930s by the Danuvia arms factory. Chambered in 9×25mm Mauser Export, the weapon was designed as a high-velocity alternative to conventional 9×19mm submachine guns of its era. The VD-01 featured a distinctive design with a wooden stock and a side-mounted magazine, combining elements of traditional rifle ergonomics with automatic fire capability. The powerful 9×25mm cartridge provided higher muzzle velocity and improved penetration compared to standard pistol calibers, though at the cost of increased recoil and mechanical stress. Its construction reflected interwar European experimentation with compact automatic weapons, seeking greater effective range and ballistic performance. Brief historical background: Developed around 1939, the Danuvia VD-01 was part of Hungary’s efforts to modernize its small arms inventory before and during World War II. Although innovative, the platform remained limited in production and was eventually overshadowed by more practical and standardized submachine gun designs. Today, it is regarded as a rare and historically interesting example of pre-WWII firearms experimentation. If there are any bugs or malfunctions, write in the comments. I will try to fix them.
