Remington Model 51

"Historical Concealable Pistol" “An elegant solution ahead of its time.” Remington Model 51 is a compact semi-automatic pistol chambered primarily in . 32 ACP and . 380 ACP, originally designed by the legendary firearms engineer John D. Pedersen. Introduced in the early 20th century, it became famous for its innovative hesitation-locked (Pedersen) system, which set it apart from most pistols of its era. The Model 51 offered exceptionally low recoil, smooth cycling, and excellent ergonomics, making it comfortable and accurate despite its small size. Its slim profile and solid steel construction made it a popular choice for concealed carry among civilians and plainclothes officers. Unlike simple blowback pistols, the Pedersen system delayed opening just enough to improve control without mechanical complexity. Brief historical background: Production of the Remington Model 51 began in 1918, shortly after World War I. Although it never saw large-scale military adoption, it earned a strong reputation on the civilian market for its advanced design and shooting comfort. The pistol was discontinued in the 1920s, but its engineering legacy lived on, influencing later firearm developments and earning the Model 51 a cult status among collectors.
