Desert Tech MDR

"Modular Bullpup Assault Rifle" “A bold vision of the future, compact, modular, uncompromising.” Desert Tech MDR (Micro Dynamic Rifle) is a modern bullpup assault rifle designed for maximum compactness without sacrificing barrel length or ballistic performance. Built with a modular architecture, the MDR supports multiple calibers, including 5. 56×45mm NATO and 7. 62×51mm NATO, allowing rapid reconfiguration for different mission profiles. The bullpup layout places the action behind the trigger group, significantly reducing overall length while maintaining a full-length barrel. Fully ambidextrous controls, forward-ejection capability, and a rigid monolithic upper receiver make the MDR a distinctive and futuristic infantry weapon, optimized for urban combat and confined environments. Historical background: The MDR was developed by the American company Desert Tech in the mid-2010s as an attempt to modernize the bullpup concept using contemporary materials and modular design principles. While it gained attention for its innovative approach and compact form, early production models faced reliability challenges, leading to mixed reception among military and civilian users. Despite this, the MDR remains an important example of next-generation bullpup experimentation and is used in limited roles by specialized units and civilian shooters worldwide.
