"Compact Assault Rifle / Special Forces Weapon" “Swiss precision refined for modern close-quarters combat.” SIG SG-553 is a compact assault rifle developed by Swiss manufacturer SIG Sauer as part of the renowned SG 550 series. Designed for close-quarters combat while retaining rifle-level accuracy, it is chambered in 5. 56×45mm NATO and features a short barrel combined with a robust gas-operated system. The SG-553 is known for its exceptional reliability, precision manufacturing, and excellent ergonomics. Despite its compact size, the rifle maintains strong ballistic performance and controllability. Historical background: Introduced in the early 2000s, the SG-553 was created as a more compact successor to the SG-552, addressing earlier reliability concerns. It quickly gained popularity among military and law enforcement special units worldwide and became a standard choice for counter-terrorism and close-quarters roles.
