In rising tensions, it is important to stand up for your beliefs and not back down as others try to hide or silence you. I know this is a just a mod for an online game about superheroes punching each other while a car slowly moves across New York City, but I think even here, we can find something meaningful. Attaching these pride flags to Captain America, a man who fights for freedom and peace, even against his own government when needed, can help to serve as a reminder that being proud of your American heritage doesn't have to stop just because the people in charge want to silence your voice. American pride can mean that you will fight for the country you believe it can be, even against those at the top who only want to secure their own power. I am as proud to be American as I am proud to be a member of the LGBTQ+ community and I truly believe that together, we can forge a country that is free and accepting of everyone.
