Immersive Splash Screens

When running the game, the first thing we immediately see is the default splash screen, followed up by all the logos and so on. Having run the game enough times, I wanted to spice it up and add something different to vanilla.

I've taken many screenshots during journeys around the in-game Australian Outback (yes, Avalanche, Australian), looking for unique places or scenes that resemble iconic images from the first three movies or interesting in-game locations. Only one can be used at a time, but it's up to you which ohe, you can also change the splash screen to something different the next day you're playing.

The pictures were taken with normal lighting, but after converting them to textures and installing in the game, they have gained an interesting depth and colour palette. Making some variations more symbolic this way.

The splash screens:

1) Captain Walker - inspired by a memorable scene from Mad Max: Beyond Thunderdome

2) Beyond Gastown - I showed this one as an image on Mad Max Nexus, Beyond Gastown at Mad Max Nexus. A nice metaphorical reference to the beginning narration of Mad Max 2: The Road Warrior

3) Broken Highway - a place not found in the usually playable area, an abandoned and destroyed highway

4) Road Warrior Iconic - inspired by the defining image of Mel Gibson's Max Rockatansky standing on the road in MM2

5) Road Warrior drives away - again inspired by MM2, the scene concluding the prologue chase

6) Crossing the Sands - an attempt to drive across the neverending desert

7) Remnants of the Old World - our character looks at what remains of the old world

8) Driving against the Storm - rushing head on against the approaching storm

9) An Interceptor Escape - whatever follows Max, he's not going to give up easily

10) Mad Max - A classic view of Max behind the wheel of Interceptor, seen in Mad Max and Mad Max 2. After converting the screenshot to texture format, it has gained a new meaning. Max's face is obscured, just as the car is - a Wasteland ghost, a character from campfire legends, a figure from the old world

11) Sun sets in the Wasteland - even the Wasteland shows its beauty at times

12) Starting the story - normally unreachable, the very place where the game story begins. Our former MFP policeman might've been stopping by there right before he heard the opponent cars in the distance

13) Propeller - inspired by an image that can be seen as one of the game loadscreens, the object is not within the default playable area. But it can be found by a brave wastelander, this thing is indeed impressive to stand next to it

14) Water and Lighthouse - seeing a photo from before at Mad Max Nexus made me realise this is something unused by the game. As it happens, I also found it in the files, but I considered it a history relic most likely, one that I haven't found in-game so far. It's haunting, we can see this very location as it looks after "Pox-eclipse" in the game

15) Looking into the desert - literal and metaphorical, considering Max's story and the setting

Installation:

Mad Max (main install folder) - refer to the list and the screenshots, choose one and install the "dropzone" folder only

Remove from the folder
