Left 4 Dead 2 Beta Pack (Complete Edition)

Project Background

On June 1st, 2009, Left 4 Dead 2 was officially announced on the E3 show floor. Immediately following, an early Left 4 Dead 2 play-testing build, or beta, was available for those at the event who wanted to try it. While it may have operated like a reskinned version of the game's predecessor Left 4 Dead, hardcore fans noticed the unique assets and attributes this early build had to offer. Unfortunately, Left 4 Dead 2's E3 Beta was never released to the public, and the build was thought to be forever lost, yet the footage surrounding it still remained. Thankfully, Valve permitting custom modding into their franchises, gave content creators infinite opportunities to create their own Left 4 Dead 2 addons, which lead many to develop, restore, or re-imagine Left 4 Dead 2 pre-release content. On March 3rd, 2012, Gigan published one of the first-ever Left 4 Dead 2 modding packages to date, consisting of the only beta-themed modifications existing at that time. The Left 4 Dead 2 Beta Pack, was born. Overtime, the Beta Pack mod evolved into a fully structured project consisting of many more professional modders, designers, and content creators.

Important Notes

Users MUST understand that there are limiting functions within this addon that will directly impact gameplay. These changes have been incorporated to give users the most accurate representation possible, while also maintaining faithfulness to the original product. This means you acknowledge the following:

• []The mod's scripts will adjust and replace some core game functions.

  []You will be limited to Single Player and Friends-only Campaign.

  []The (E3) Parish Campaign will be your only campaign selection.

  []Local Servers (for script activation) will be your only selectable server setting.

  If you wish to have access to the rest of the game's directory or combine with other addons, please Download the Online Edition.

  Installation

  Simply take the VPK file and place it in your Left 4 Dead 2 addons directory located at C:\Program Files(x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\Left 4 Dead 2\left4dead2\addons. Ensure that all other mods are disabled prior to this addon's activation. If you wish to install bonus media files, such as the main menu background and E3 trailer introduction, view the Enhanced Folder section below.

  Enhanced Folder

  The Enhanced folder consists of more E3-related content that cannot be activated by a simple VPK replacement. It can be opened using the external program GCFScape. Please see the readme for these installation instructions.

  Crediting all collaborator assets is extremely important, and we will do our best to ensure all work is properly recognized. To view all assets used in this project see here.

  Sourcerer requires that if another content creator wishes to re-upload exclusive content, Gigan, or another developer, must be credited or notified with a valid reason for doing so. This is not only for the protection of our assets, but also for the rightful protection of donated content, as well as Valve assets. If Sourcerer finds any unofficial rereleases without permission, Sourcerer will file for copyright. Not removing the item will result in a report.
