Fix Monitor Brightness Gamma After Exit

Description

If you have ever experienced a brief screen brightening when launching the game (it may also looks "washed out" or tinted) which may also persist after exit, this is the fix for that. This mod provides script for installation of system-level Windows Management Instrumentation (WMI) callback to reset display color settings once you exit the game.

This script registers a WMI event listener, which waits specifically for the swkotor.exe process to stop. The moment after the game closes, script triggers the built-in Windows Calibration Loader task which reloads custom color profiles, restoring display settings. This approach may be slightly overengineered, but it works for me reliably.

Installation instructions

  []Verify script content. NEVER run any suspicious scripts as administrator as they can damage your machine and steal your data.[/]

  []Run script as administrator.[/]

  []You will be prompted with interactive menu for various script actions. Select Install monitor (press 2 on your keyboard and enter).[/]

  []Verify monitor status (it should be ACTIVE)[/]

  []Exit the menu (press 4) and launch swkotor as usual.[/]
