📋 About This Mod
An application that allows the user to freely swap keyblades over one another and build them into a OpenKH-compatible .zip file. Custom stats supported!
Description
This is a project that allows the user to completely swap Keyblade models and stats as they please! Want Jungle King to look like Metal Chocobo? Go for it. Want it to have 100 strength and 100 MP? Have at it!
Basically, this lets you pick and choose what Keyblade you want to be what. I spent far too long building it, and while I'm not completely sold on its current iteration to the point of 100% satisfaction, it's good enough to release. All 18 Final Mix Keyblades are included in the basic generator.
Included as optional downloads in this mod are what I call "packs," which are a few pseudo proofs of concept additions to the generator which will let you swap to some models that aren't usually usable in KH1. Currently the pack weapons (other than the Dream Weapons) don't have their own hit effects or trails, so they just use whatever the replaced Keyblade had) The packs I've got currently are:
Dream Weapons Pack
-
[]Dream Sword[/]
[]Dream Rod[/]
[]Dream Shield[/]
[]Wooden Sword (I know it's not a dream weapon, but I didn't know where else to put it)[/]
-
[]Revolver[/]
[]Revolver (80% Size)[/]
[]Buster Sword[/]
[]Buster Sword (80% Size)[/]
[]Masamune[/]
-
[]Keyblade of People's Hearts[/]
[]Kingdom Key D[/]
[]Soul Eater (Again, I know it's not a Keyblade but it grows up to be one, I'm sorry)[/]
The Keyblade Generator is modular, so anybody who's smarter than me and can figure out how to make additional packs using non KH1 assets can add new models to the game using the generator. I'll try to add some more at some point in the future when I'm done improving the basic Keyblade Generator and adding the features I want to it, but no promises if I can't figure out how to get them working in KH1.
Currently I'm still in the process of making updates to the program, and I'm testing out adding new features, so if there's something you're not a fan of or something you'd like to see implemented, feel free to leave a comment. I can't guarantee any speed since I'm pretty busy with work lately and I'm working on a few other mods and get distracted easily, but when I circle back to this eventually, I'll take a look!
Installation instructions
I've included a README file in the mod's main folder that gives detailed instructions, so if you have questions, please make sure to read that all the way through, but here's a brief run-down in case you're curious. First and foremost, you'll need to extract the Keyblade Generator somewhere. I usually put my mods all in one folder, my path looks like "C:\Users\Arcti\Documents\Mods\Kingdom Hearts\Kingdom Hearts I" if you're curious or need inspiration.
You'll need a few things, your game's Image\dt folder (explained in the readme), an extraction of KH1 done by OpenKH's wizard somewhere on your PC, KHPCPatchManager.exe (used to extract some important files from the game), and OpenKH's mod manager. Once you get all that, open the Keyblade Generator's .exe file and run the Data Setup using the button at the top right of the program, it'll ask you for some locations of the above listed programs. Then, you'll click the prepare assets button to let the generator grab all the necessary files for its shenanigans, and boom, you're ready to go.
Once that's done, use the generator to swap Keyblades around willy-nilly (or don't and just change their stats if you wanna), and when you're done rename the mod (or don't I don't own you) and press the "Generate OpenKH Mod" button. The program will make a new folder in the extraction called "Built Mods" and it'll have a .zip file in there. Go into OpenKH, press the green "+" button and find that .zip file in the Built Mods folder, and add that sucker in there, no need to extract it. Put the generated mod above any other weapon mods or it probably won't work. Then press f5 or hit the Mod Loader button at the top, then press "Build and Run" to start the game.
Have fun!
Conflicts
Previously, I was under the impression that two mods that altered the same file were a "one or the other" type deal, whichever was highest in the load order. This might still be true
