📋 About This Mod
This extremely simple mod enables the game setting "wh_pl_ShowFireCursor", which makes the dot reticle visible even when holding a bow.
(By default, the reticle shows only with bare hands and melee weapons.)
Multiple similar mods already exist, why create a new one?
With this mod I just wanted to learn how to make a basic mod for Kingdom Come: Deliverance. 🙂
An additional motivation to make this mod is that this one does not require any further action from the player (you), unlike other similar mods that require editing a user.cfg or an autoexec.cfg. Consequently, they are not compatible with Vortex (Nexus' mod manager).
This one is plug-and-play! You subscribe to the mod and that's it.
How to manually install the mod?
Extract the "reticle_for_bows" directory from the zip package, and move it to the game's Mods directory. Then add a "reticle_for_bows" line in Mods\mod_order.txt if present.
This is the tree structure you should have:
<Game install directory> <-- Depends on your platform.
└── Mods\
├── mod_order.txt <-- Add the mod directory name inside!
└── reticle_for_bows\
├── Data\
│ └── data.pak
└── mod.manifest
This simple mod for Kingdom Come: Deliverance enables the game's built-in dot reticle for bows, which is hidden by default. It's a plug-and-play solution that doesn't require editing config files, unlike similar mods, making it compatible with Vortex. Ideal for archers who want better aiming without hassle.
✨ Key Features
📊 Pros & Cons
✅ Pros
- Plug-and-play—just subscribe and it works, no config file editing like other reticle mods.
- Vortex compatible, so you can manage it easily without breaking your setup.
- Small and focused—does exactly what it says, no bloat or extra features.
⚠️ Cons
- Only shows the reticle for bows—no customization options for size or color.
- Requires manual mod_order.txt edit if you install manually, which might trip up beginners.
- Last updated in February 2026—could break with future game patches, though it's a simple setting toggle.
For Kingdom Come: Deliverance archers who want a visible aiming dot without fiddling with config files. Also great for Vortex users who prefer mod manager integration. Skip if you want a customizable reticle or gameplay changes—this is purely a UI convenience.
💡 Beginner Tips
- If using Vortex, just download with the mod manager and enable it—no extra steps needed.
- For manual install, make sure to add 'reticle_for_bows' to mod_order.txt if that file exists, or the mod may not load.
- Test the reticle in-game by drawing your bow—if it doesn't appear, double-check the mod directory structure.
