Henry The Monk

In the darkened corners of Henry's mind, the events from the past began to weigh heavily on him. The blood. The deaths. The faces of those souls he sent onward still haunted him his thoughts and dreams. A paranoid feeling began to take hold of Henry, always watching his back walking down the streets of Kuttenberg at night. He made a wrong turn and all of the sudden Henry was against a brick wall with a knife to his throat. The dark clothed man's face barely visible, but the glint of the dagger was the brightest thing under the night's shadowy veil. A soft voice was heard down the alley, Henry looked, still throat-pressed by the blade. The man looked too, which was just enough for Henry to make his move, grabbing and twisting the blade in the killers hand, until now, it was in Henry's. The man recoiled at first, looking like he might want mercy, but then suddenly made a move for the blade. Without a second thought, Henry plunged the knife into the man's chest, stabbing his heart. Henry stepped back, the man's body falling to the cobbled street making a thud. The blood soaked through the dark padded armor and hood and now pooled on the ground. From the darkness behind, Henry felt a hand grab his shoulder. He quickly turned and jumped back ready to strike, but there was no one there. Only darkness... Henry, standing frozen in what seemed to be the only area with a shred of light in the dark streets of Kuttenberg, heard a sly voice slither from the darkness, as if it had been said by the devil himself. "Join us."

Henry went home that night with the feeling of guilt and sheer terror, but also curiosity... A day passed and Henry received a very interesting letter in the post. It was return posted from his Aunt Mary, but Henry didn't have an Aunt Mary. The letter said that his supposed Aunt had run out of milk and needed Henry to visit the dairy at a specific location, but to be sure to ride there before midnight.

That night, Henry rode to an old abandoned shack just outside of a small farm. He waited under an old oak tree in front of the shack and watched the night sky, waiting as the moon waned directly overhead. After awhile of standing and waiting, Henry felt a feeling of dread wash over him. At his side he could feel the tip of a blade slowly pushing harder against his coat. "I'm unarmed!" Henry shouted. "Shhhh!! They'll hear you, you fool!" A voice yelled in whisper, a voice Henry vaguely recognized as the one from the other night. He turned to see another man in the same looking dark padded armor and hood that the man he stabbed was wearing. They both walked inside the dilapidated shack and discussed an interesting opportunity. The man revealed he was part of a secret underground crime syndicate that thrived deep below Kuttenberg, even deeper than the smugglers knew about, and there they
