This species differs from Ingen’s Spinosaurus in having a shorter but thicker sail on its back. Oxalaia is remarkably docile and does not hunt humans or other dinosaurs. Instead, it prefers to spend its time near rivers or other bodies of water, where it can catch fish easily. Oxalaia is an interesting study, as some herbivores do not fear it and even seek its protection from other carnivores. It should also be noted that some individual Oxalaia speciemens have developed a social hierarchy that includes several Suchomimus.
