📋 About This Mod
I didn't like the idea that you can just always buy the best armor for your sec-level. This mod makes heavy armor plates reduce your carrying capacity so there is a trade-off.
I didn't like that you could just always wear the best armor at your level, so I gave some trade-offs. Assuming you use the defaults, when you wear heavier armor, you have less capacity in your backpack. I also change it so you can get heavy armor starting at security-level 4. I reduced the armor values for the highest level armor plate and helmet each by 1. I reduced the durability of the heavy plate to medium. If you take off your armor, load up your pack, and then put your armor back on exceeding the weight capacity in your armor, you won't be able to move.
This is a UE4SS Lua mod for Into the Radius 2 that trades backpack space against the armor plate you wear. It also adjusts selected armor protection, plate reliability, and store unlock levels. Changes are applied while the mod is running; they do not permanently edit the game's data files.
IMPORTANT! This has not been tested in co-op, I have no idea what will happen if you do.
Requirements
-
[]Into the Radius 2 on Windows.[/]
[]UE4SS with Lua-mod support for ITR2. Install (https://www.nexusmods.com/intotheradius2/mods/128) before this mod. This mod was tested with that pack's UE4SS Experimental v3. 0. 1 build `g06474186`. Other UE4SS builds have not been verified for this mod. Do not install two UE4SS packs over one another.[/]
UE4SS provides the Lua runtime; you do not need to install Lua separately. This is a Lua mod, not a `.pak` mod, and Simple Mod Loader alone is not a substitute for a working UE4SS Lua setup. No other gameplay mods are required.
Install, configure, and remove
1. Install the UE4SS prerequisite using its own Nexus installation instructions. Launch the game once and confirm UE4SS starts before adding this mod.
2. Extract the `ArmorVsCapacity` folder into your game's `IntoTheRadius2\Content\Paks\LuaMods` folder. The resulting layout must be:
IntoTheRadius2\Content\Paks\LuaMods\ArmorVsCapacity\
enabled.txt
Scripts\main.lua
3. Launch the game. If you use the ITR2 Vortex extension, install the archive with `ArmorVsCapacity` at its root; the extension recognizes `enabled.txt` as a Lua mod.
To change settings, edit the CONFIG section near the top of `Scripts\main.lua`, save the file, and restart the game. To uninstall, close the game and remove `LuaMods\ArmorVsCapacity`; the mod does not permanently change the game's data files.
If nothing changes in-game, check for a current `UE4SS.log` alongside `UE4SS.dll` in `IntoTheRadius2\Content\Paks`. It should show `ArmorVsCapacity` loading. Confirm that you did not accidentally create an extra nested `ArmorVsCapacity\ArmorVsCapacity` folder and that `enabled.txt` is still present.

[]Light: 100% of normal; Low Reliability[/]
[]Medium: 75% of normal; Medium Reliability[/]
[]Heavy: 50% of normal; Medium Reliability (down from High)[/]
Other default changes:
- Heavy plate protection: Combat Damage resistance changes from 7 to 6. The FAST battle helmet changes from 5 to 4; the other listed helmets and plates retain their vanilla protection.
- Heavy plate reliability: Its durability-damage multiplier changes from `0. 04` (vanilla High) to `0. 06` (vanilla Medium). The tooltip says Medium: the mod copies the Medium plate's localized reliability parameter once after the player has loaded. Light and Medium plates are unchanged.
- Store unlocks: The Heavy plate and Heavy modular armor/vest become available at security level 4 instead of 5. Other listed gear keeps its vanilla level.
- Over-capacity movement: If your worn backpack's load exceeds its current scaled capacity, you cannot move until you reduce the load below the l
