Craft From Chests

Description

ICARUS has no way to craft from storage. Every recipe means opening a cupboard, pulling materials, walking back to the bench, and doing it again for the next item — and again when you realise you're four screws short.

Craft From Chests removes that. Stand at any bench, select a recipe, and press P. The mod works out exactly what you're missing, finds it in the containers around you, and pulls precisely that much — not whole stacks. Press O and everything in your pack goes back to the chest it came from, while your tools, weapons, ammo, food and armour stay on you.

It also tells you something the game never has. When you're short an ingredient but a nearby chest has it, that ingredient's tile turns yellow — meaning "you're one keypress away". Red still means genuinely missing.

No game files are modified. Items move using the game's own transfer functions, exactly as if you'd shift-clicked them yourself.

Installation instructions

1. Install UE4SS into ...\steamapps\common\Icarus\Icarus\Binaries\Win64\

You should end up with dwmapi.dll and UE4SS.dll sitting next to Icarus-Win64-Shipping.exe.

2. Extract the CraftFromChests folder into ...\Icarus\Icarus\Binaries\Win64\Mods\

Do not rename the folder — UE4SS identifies mods by folder name.

3. Double-click RUN ME FIRST.bat inside the mod folder.

It finds your Icarus install automatically and builds the recipe data from your own game files. Takes a few seconds.

4. Launch the game. Highlighting turns itself on — no keypress needed.

Re-run RUN ME FIRST.bat after each ICARUS update. The mod reads recipes from your own installed copy of the game rather than shipping a snapshot, so it stays correct when RocketWerkz changes things.

Uninstall: delete the folder. Nothing else is touched.

Not loading? Check for " stub loaded" in Binaries\Win64\UE4SS.log. If it's missing, add the line "CraftFromChests : 1" to Binaries\Win64\Mods\mods.txt.

Main features

P — Pull ingredients. Reads the recipe you have selected, including the craft quantity, and pulls the exact amount you're short from containers within range. Not whole stacks.

O — Send back. Empties your pack into storage, routing each item to a chest that already holds that type. Tools, weapons, ammo, medicine, food and armour stay on you, and that list is customisable.

Yellow highlighting. Ingredient tiles turn yellow when nearby storage can cover what you're missing. Updates on its own as you browse recipes and change quantities.

On-screen feedback. Every action reports what it did — "pulled 40 Wood, 8 Leather", "nothing to store", "no bench within 7m". Nothing fails silently.

F8 dry run. Shows exactly what P would move without moving anything.

Stays current across game updates. Recipe and item data are generated from your own installation, not shipped with the mod.

Requirements

UE4SS (RE-UE4SS) — https://github.com/UE4SS-RE/RE-UE4SS/releases

Windows. The one-time setup step uses a PowerShell script bundled with the mod.

Works in single-player and in co-op when you are the host. Not tested as a client on a dedicated server.

No .pak files are replaced and no save data is modified, so it should not conflict with other mods.
