Eros Server Handler is a native BungeeCord-style alternative for Hytale that securely routes players between servers using a lobby-based transfer system.

It enforces trusted source validation and shared-secret authentication, without requiring any external proxy.

What is this mod?

Eros Server Handler allows you to run a single lobby server that acts as the only public entry point to your network.

The lobby securely transfers players to backend servers while preventing all unauthorized or direct connections.

This makes it a true BungeeCord alternative for Hytale, without proxy infrastructure.

How it works

• []Player connects to the Lobby server

  []Lobby redirects the player using Hytale referral

  []Referral includes a shared secret payload

  []Target server validates:

  • The connection is a referral

  • The referral source matches the trusted lobby address

  • The secret payload is correct

  []Player is allowed to join

Any failed validation results in an immediate disconnect.

Server roles

Each server’s behavior is determined by server.name in the config.

Lobby server:

• Accepts direct connections

• Registers server jump commands

• Redirects players to backend servers

Target servers:

• Reject all direct connections

• Accept only lobby referrals

• Validate trusted source and secret payload

Configuration details

Identifies the server role (lobby or backend name)

• secretKey

Shared secret used to authenticate referrals between servers

trustedSource:

(Used only on target servers)

Lobby server IP address

Lobby server port

Target servers will only accept referrals from this exact address.

Defines available backend servers.

Important note:

If the server name is NOT "lobby", the entire servers section is ignored.

Eros Server Handler uses two mandatory security checks:

• []Trusted source validation

  Ensures the referral originated from the lobby server

• Shared secret payload

  Prevents spoofed or forged referrals

Both checks must pass for a player to join a backend server.

Always available. Sends the player back to the lobby server.

Server jump commands

Registered only on the lobby server, for example:

• /skyblock

• /minigames

Important configuration warning

Every configuration change requires a full server restart.

Do NOT attempt to reload this mod at runtime.

Do NOT use third-party reload mods.

Reloading networking or security logic while the server is running may break validation and cause unexpected behavior.
