Proper Super Ultrawide

UPDATE FOR 1. 5. 12459 Patch: (FEB 2026)

• []Open Steam and press Win + R on your keyboard to open the Run dialog.

  []Type steam://nav/console

  []Type download_depot 367520 367521 4539921744901848404

  []It will now be in the location it says on the console

  []Replace those files with the ones in your C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\Hollow Knight location

  []You are now on the previous version before the updated version broke the mod (1. 4. 3. 2)

• []replaces the assembly-CSharp.dll file with an edited one that changes some hex values to fix 32:9 Resolutions

  []It no longer has the black bars and looks incredible.

  []32:9 Aspect ratio

  []This is for use with 5120x1440 & 3840x1080

  []Map and inventory have some limitations (missing background for edges, see third pic for example)

  Installation

  Roll back your game version on steam (Instructions above)

  1. Extract the folder from this mod and

  2. Navigate to C:\SteamLibrary\steamapps\common\Hollow Knight\hollow_knight_Data\Managed

  3. Drag the modded Assembly-CSharp.dll into the "managed" directory in your hollow knight and replace the file when the pop up shows up.

  4. Now launch the game, ensure you are on 5120x1440 or 3840x1080, load into gameplay and notice that you no longer have black bars and instead have proper super ultra wide support

  Note: 

  • []Not compatible with other mods that modify Assembly-CSharp.dll

  Bonus for other resolutions such as regular ultrawide and 16:10 (steam deck)

  1. Please refer to these hex values for the correct aspect ratio that you need

  2. Use a hex editor or use an online one such as hexed.it

  3. Navigate to C:\SteamLibrary\steamapps\common\Hollow Knight\hollow_knight_Data\Managed

  4. Drag your Assembly-CSharp.dll into the hex editor

  5. Do a control+F and search for 39 8E E3 3F

  6. Replace every instance of the value above to the one that you want to use (Couple quick examples below)

  • []9A 99 19 40 = 21:9 (Ultrawide)

    []CD CC CC 3F = 16:10 (Steam Deck)
