📋 About This Mod

Shows how many enemies are around you, how many are hunting for you and how many are actually fighting you, in a small badge next to the compass. Client side, works as host or as a guest.

Please Read

This mod needs Bingus Shared Loader (v15 or newer). Install both and deploy them together.

It is client side only. Nobody else in your squad needs it, and it works the same whether you host or join someone else. It only reads what your game already knows, so nothing is changed or sent anywhere.

After a game update the mod turns itself off until I update it. It won't break your game, the badge just won't show up.

What it does

I kept losing track of whether a patrol had actually spotted me or was just wandering around, so I made a little counter for it. It sits to the left of the compass and has four numbers:

  • []Radar - every enemy within 60m of you, no matter what it's doing.[/]

[]Eye - enemies that are looking for you. They lost sight of you and are tracking you down, or they're dropping in on a dropship or crawling out of a bug hole to come after you.[/]

[]Crosshair - enemies that are fighting you right now. If you're in a vehicle, enemies shooting the vehicle count too.[/]

[]People (separate box) - enemies fighting your teammates.[/]

The line under the badge changes colour with the worst of it: grey when nothing is going on, yellow when something is searching for you, orange when you're in a fight and red once 6 or more enemies are on you.

Friendly SEAF troops, sentries and turrets are never counted. Tested against Terminids, Automatons and the Illuminate, as host and as a guest.

    Installation

    • []Close the game.[/]

[]Download Aggro Counter and Bingus Shared Loader and import both into Arsenal or HD2 Mod Manager.[/]

[]Open Aggro Counter's options (the sliders button in Arsenal) and keep "Aggro Counter" ticked. Pick the position, size and the other options you like.[/]

      []Enable both mods and deploy.[/]

That's it! Start the game and the badge shows up once you drop into a mission.

If you want to change the options later, close the game first, change them in the manager and deploy again.

    Options

    In the mod manager:

    • []Position - left of the compass (default), right of the compass, or under the warning banners.[/]

[]Size - 75% to 200%. The badge never grows over the compass, so on the left side it stops at about 185%.[/]

[]Nearby enemies cell - show or hide the radar number.[/]

[]When nothing is counted - dim (default), hide, or always show.[/]

In game, while the game window is focused:

      • []Ctrl + Shift + O - show / hide the badge[/]

        []Ctrl + Shift + = and Ctrl + Shift + - - bigger / smaller[/]

        []Ctrl + Shift + I / J / K / L - move it up / left / down / right (hold to keep moving)[/]

Whatever you change with these keys is saved for next time. I went with Ctrl + Shift so they don't get in the way of anything in the game (holding Ctrl with the arrow keys would punch in stratagem codes).

If you use Mod Bindings Menu, the same actions show up on its MODS tab under AGGRO COUNTER so you can put them on any key or a controller button. They start unbound, and the Ctrl + Shift keys keep working either way.

      Config file

      Settings are stored here:

      %LOCALAPPDATA%\CowboyBingus\Helldivers2\AggroCounter.txt

Every setting is listed in there with a short explanation. Anything you write in this file wins over the mod manager options. If you want to go back to the manager options, delete the line, or delete the whole file to reset everything.

A few things you can only change there: the 60m radius (near_radius), the background opacity, and how many enemies it takes for the badge to turn red (red_at).

      Good to know

[]If you changed HUD scale, HUD offset or compass width in the game settings, the badge might sit a little off. Nudge it with Ctrl + Shift + I/J/K/L and it stays there.[/]

[]I've only tested 16:9. Ultrawide should work since the compass stays centred, but let me know if it doesn't line up.[/]

[]As a guest, the game doesn't tell you who a searching enemy is looking for, so the mod gives it to whichever player is closest. It's right most of the time but not always.[/]

[*]The counter updates four times a second and costs about 1 ms per upda
