📋 About This Mod
Makes Halo 3's and ODST's (currently broken) Flood Combat Forms move faster, therefore making them more intimidating as threats. This was done by speeding up and reimporting their animations. Both the source animations and the animation
(For some reason they aren't working for ODST even though they were when I tested them. I should have a fix in by the 15th)
Ever felt Halo 3's Flood Combat Forms were a little too easy? Sluggish? Confoundingly basic? Preposterously unresponsive? Unceremoniously stagnant, perhaps?
Well now you can make them faster, by way of my incredibly lackluster yet devoted animation skills. I have individually sped up animations for:
Bracing (covering their bodies when a grenade is nearby)
Thrashing on the ground
Resurrecting
Melee attacks (Specifically normal and lunge melees, sadly turning melees can't be properly imported into blender yet)
Swiping objects out of the way
I didn't just uniformly speed them up and call it a day either, I wanted these to look good, and not twitchy. I was very careful about how I went about doing these. Some animations, like running anims, didn't look great if I just sped them up by two times, they'd look fake and artificial instead. I used a few admittedly basic techniques to make sure these all looked passable by Bungie's standards. For things like running anims, rather than characters just taking twice the number of steps during a 3 second period, each step instead carries them farther. Melee animations have seen increases to the speed of their windups and recoveries, but their actual swings have remained mostly the same speed. Basically, I modified parts of each animation until they looked good as a whole.
As a result, Combat Forms are about as fast and as in Halo CE now, but they'll still have a lot of Halo 3's behavioral quirks, they'll still be brittle to melee, and they'll be missing Halo CE's aggression and Halo 2's intelligence. In order to get the most out of this mod, I recommend tweaking their behavior, ping thresholds, and misc properties until they behave to your liking. Sped up animations can only do so much.
Also, I'm not uploading pictures, because this is a modified animation mod, and pictures would be literally pointless since you can only see animations in motion.
How to install:
There are two methods, the easy way or the customizable way. If you're fine with all of the modified animations and just want to throw them in, do it the easy way. If you only want some of the modified animations, do this the customizable way.
For the easy way, here's what you do:
- Put the custom model animation graphs in the folders of their respective characters
2. For each character (floodcombat_human in this example), open the .model tag and change the animation graph from the default one to the fast one. The fast one only contains the modified animations is automatically s
