Minesweeper

A classic game, brought to Halo: Reach!

Every round, a player or team is selected to work the board. Shooting a space with a DMR will flag it or unflag it, while shooting a space with a Magnum will uncover it. Uncover every non-mined space to win!

How to install

You need to copy the .bin file into your saved game variants folder, which is located here (the exact path varies depending on your internal XUID, or Xbox User ID):

%APPDATA%\..\LocalLow\MCC\LocalFiles\<YOUR_XUID_HERE>\HaloReach\GameType

You also need to copy the .mvar files into your saved map variants folder. These maps are built on Tempest.

If those folders do not exist, try saving a game variant or map variant in-game so that the folder is generated. When adding new files, note that the Master Chief Collection only checks this folder once, when you click through the title screen ("Press "). If you add files to this folder after that moment, you will need to fully close and restart the game in order for those files to appear in-game.

How to actually play Minesweeper

Minesweeper presents you with a 9x9-tile board, where each space is covered up. The goal is to uncover the entire board, except for spaces that have landmines under them. When If you uncover a space that is near a landmine, then that space will display a number: this is the number of landmines that exist in any of the eight surrounding spaces. If you touch a space that isn't near a landmine, then the entire "pool" of safe spaces surrounding it will be uncovered as well.

Placing a flag on a space will prevent you from uncovering it by accident. Flags are a good way to keep track of spaces that you think have landmines under them.

In Halo: Reach Minesweeper, you interact with the board by shooting it. Each space has a scaled-up Fusion Coil nestled into it, and the script detects when a Fusion Coil is destroyed.
