NoLetterbox - Ultrawide cutscene fix

Removes the black letterbox bars shown during in-engine cutscenes.

If you've played through the campaign, you've probably noticed the cutscenes render with big

black bars top and bottom, like a widescreen movie squeezed onto your monitor. That's not

intentional cinematography — it's Unreal's built-in aspect-ratio lock kicking in. The cutscene

cameras are set to a 21:9 "cinematic" ratio, which doesn't match a normal 16:9 screen.

This mod gets rid of that. As soon as a camera spawns, NoLetterbox strips out the aspect-ratio

constraint, so cutscenes fill your whole screen like the rest of the game does.

What it does

- Works automatically. Install it and forget about it — no keybinds, no menu, nothing to turn on.

- If you ever want the bars back (comparison screenshots, or you just like the cinematic look),

open the console and type `letterbox_off` or `letterbox_on`.

Compatibility

- Built and tested on game build 2026. 06. 26. 1097863. 1-Rel-i343-Meteorite-2606-CU2.

- Steam PC runs a different game executable than Gamepass — installation paths differ.

- Doesn't touch anything else in the game, so it should play nicely alongside your other UE4SS

Requirements

------------

You'll need UE4SS installed for Halo: Campaign Evolved first (the Meteorite compatibility build,

version 1. 3 or newer — older versions won't have the console commands this mod adds). Get that

working and confirm you can open the console with Tilde or F10 before installing this.

Installation

------------

1. Install UE4SS for the game first, if you haven't already.

2. Locate your game's UE4SS Mods folder:

- Gamepass/Xbox PC: `...\Halo Campaign Evolved\Content\Meteorite\Binaries\WinGDK\ue4ss\Mods\`

- Steam PC: `...\Halo Campaign Evolved\Meteorite\Binaries\Win64\ue4ss\Mods\`

3. Drop the `NoLetterbox` folder from this download into that Mods folder.

4. Open `mods.txt` in that same Mods folder and add a line: `NoLetterbox : 1`

5. Launch the game and enjoy your cutscenes without the bars.
