📋 About This Mod
This allows you to hold up to 4 weapons.
Please note: this mod currently requires manual installation.
The mod has been tested and confirmed working with both the Microsoft Store and Steam versions.
What This Mod Does
-
[]More Weapon Slots expands the standard two-weapon inventory, allowing you to carry and cycle through up to four weapons using the game’s normal weapon-swap control.[/]
[]Additional weapons can be collected normally, with support for controllers, keyboards, and remapped controls. You can also trade weapons with NPCs and collect skulls while all four weapon slots are occupied—no manual weapon drop is required.[/]
Technical Information
-
[]More Weapon Slots is a native UE4SS C++ mod that hooks the weapon-inventory system inside HaloSimulation_tag_release.dll. It activates the game’s four internal weapon slots, places eligible pickups into available slots, and preserves native weapon cycling across all populated slots.[/]
[]For full-inventory NPC trades, the mod preserves the game’s native transaction while suppressing the usual ground-drop behavior. This allows the player and NPC to exchange weapons correctly without requiring the player to drop a weapon first.[/]
[]For full-inventory skull pickups, the mod temporarily creates inventory space, registers the skull collection, and immediately restores the equipped weapon. This prevents the weapon from being dropped, although the normal skull pickup animation is skipped.[/]
[]The mod also corrects first-person visibility for holstered weapons. Inventory-state and camera-perspective events trigger a one-time visibility correction after pickups, drops, swaps, and perspective changes. Player-owned, stowed third-person weapon meshes are hidden while in first person and restored in third person. This prevents any weapon occupying the affected slot—including Rocket Launchers, Fuel Rod Cannons, Sniper Rifles, and smaller weapons—from clipping into the first-person camera. The correction is event-driven and does not continuously scan during gameplay.[/]
[]Before installing its runtime hooks, the mod validates the required native functions. Known Microsoft Store and Steam builds use verified function locations. Other DLL versions scan their executable sections for the six required hook signatures and activate only when each signature has one unique match.[/]
[]If a required signature is missing or ambiguous, the native hooks remain disabled instead of using an unsafe address. The failure and affected signature are recorded in MoreWeaponSlots_native.log.[/]
Install/Uninstall Instructions
Add the MoreWeaponSlots folder to the \ue4ss\Mods\ directory and add the following line to mods.txt:
MoreWeaponSlots : 1
To uninstall, remove the folder and its entry from mods.txt.
Known Issues
Full-inventory skull collection intentionally skips the normal skull pickup animation.
The stock HUD supports only its original two weapon indicators. Dedicated icons for weapon slots three and four are not included because earlier implementations caused instability. Optional mods are available to hide the secondary weapon indicator and secondary grenade icon for a cleaner HUD layout.
