Halo Reach - Update

The short version is that this doesn't try to change the visuals, only improve them. Kind of like a refresh of sorts, making things look a little more in character for a release in the current day.

The long version is that this adds some cool new effects to everything, something akin to the "postprocessing" settings you'd find in most modern games. This preset adds Screen Space Directional Occlusion, Ambient Lighting, HDR, Reflective Bumpmapping, MXAO, and SMAA, all adding up to giving things some much needed depth, subtle reflections, and makes everything feel more modern overall.

The summarized effect this has is something very similar to the effect Half-Life 2: Update had graphically. If you picked that up from the title, imagine I high-fived you, because you deserve it.

Worth nothing that ReShade is compatible with EAC! No need to worry about swapping files or anything silly like that.

However, in multiplayer, SSDO and Reflective Bumpmapping dont appear to work, and simply act as if they're disabled, so some visual fidelity is lost in that respect. Seems to be just fine everywhere else.

Installation process:

1. Install Reshade onto C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\Halo The Master Chief Collection\MCC\Binaries\Win64\MCC-Win64-Shipping.exe. Select DX11, and make sure you include the standard/default effects when asked.

2. Copy my .ini file to the same folder.

3. Start the game up, and once ReShade has finished loading, hit the Home key.

4. There's a little drop-down menu at the top next to a couple of arrows that will likely say ReShade.ini. Click it, and select my .ini file.

If the preset bogs your computer down a little too much, try turning off some of the more intensive settings like SMAA and SSDO, and most importantly, feel free to experiment and try adding to it! Make it your own. Mix things up a little. If you'd like to share the changes you've made to the preset, consider sending it back to me and I'll add either as it as an optional download or make it the main one as an updated version, with credits provided.
