Choose the right download

• []For the full game, download Half Sword Enhancer - Experimental from the Files tab. The older v0. 5. 3 downloads do not work with the current game.[/]

  []For Half Sword Demo, install v0. 5. 2 manually using the demo instructions below. It is the last compatible version.[/]

The launcher is optional. After installation, start the game through Steam. README.txt is next to the launcher in the experimental ZIP. It covers installation and uninstalling.

The menu saves your settings and has tooltips and shortcut notifications. Save presets to reuse characters, equipment, and scenarios.

Full game installation on Windows

Close the game and extract the complete experimental ZIP. Choose one installation method.

With the launcher

Run HSEnhancerLauncher.exe and follow the prompts. The launcher finds the game and chooses the standard or UE4SS installation for you. It can also check for updates and start the game. Run it again to update or repair HSE. Do not run it from inside the ZIP.

Manual installation

• []Right-click Half Sword in Steam. Select Manage, then Browse local files. Open HalfSwordUE5\Binaries\Win64.[/]

  []Copy winmm.dll and HSEnhancer.dll from the ZIP's Manual Install folder into Win64, next to HalfSwordUE5-Win64-Shipping.exe.[/]

If you use UE4SS, replace step 2 with these steps. Use the files from Manual Install.

• []Copy HSEnhancer.dll into Win64 and main.dll into Win64\ue4ss\Mods\HSEnhancer\dlls. Create the folders if needed.[/]

  []Add HSEnhancer : 1 to Win64\ue4ss\Mods\mods.txt if it is not already there.[/]

  []Do not install HSE's winmm.dll. Remove it if you previously installed HSE without UE4SS.[/]

  Half Sword Demo v0. 5. 2

  Do not use the launcher for the demo. It installs or updates to newer versions that do not work with the demo.

  • []Close the demo and uninstall any other HSE version using the instructions below.[/]

    []Download "HS Enhancer Manual Install DEMO", version 0. 5. 2, under Old files in the Files tab, or get the v0. 5. 2 ZIP from GitHub. Extract the ZIP.[/]

    []Right-click Half Sword Demo in Steam. Select Manage, then Browse local files. Open HalfSwordUE5\Binaries\Win64.[/]

    []Copy dwmapi.dll and HSEnhancer.dll from that ZIP next to HalfSwordUE5-Win64-Shipping.exe. Use both files from v0. 5. 2. The demo uses dwmapi.dll instead of winmm.dll.[/]

    Linux and Steam Deck

    Use Proton for the full game and follow the Linux and Steam Deck guide. The ZIP includes a copy named Linux-Guide.md.

    Getting started

    • []Start Half Sword through Steam. The mod menu opens by default.[/]

      []Press Insert to hide or show the menu.[/]

      []Find an option in the sidebar or search bar. Hover over it for help, or assign a keyboard or mouse shortcut.[/]

    Change the menu key and interface behavior in the Interface section of Settings.

    Discord Activity is on by default. When Discord is running, it shows "Half Sword " with your map, mode, remaining enemies, and session time. Turn it off in the Interface section of Settings.
