All Taps for Guitar Hero World Tour: Definitive Edition

All Taps turns every note in Guitar Hero World Tour: Definitive Edition into a tap note. There is no strumming required, you just press the fret buttons to hit the notes.

I created this mod because the GHWTDE developers honestly do not seem to care about keyboard or controller players. They have taken a very elitist stance on the matter, treating players poorly just because they want to play the game without buying a plastic guitar. At the end of the day, it is just a videogame. This mod is for everyone who just wants to sit back and enjoy the game their own way.

Why use this instead of the Always Slide cheat?

You might be wondering why you should use this mod instead of just enabling the Always Slide cheat already in the game. The Always Slide cheat makes it so you cannot earn any money in career mode, and it completely disables your ability to save your high scores. This mod fixes that entirely. Because it natively changes how the notes register, the game does not treat it as a cheat, but just as an alternative way to play, allowing you to progress and save normally.

How It Works

The mod works by patching three functions in GHWTDE.dll at runtime (CanAutoStrum, b_AutoStrumAllowed, and is_tapping_note) through an XInput proxy DLL. No fake input is injected into the game. The game's own logic natively treats every single note as a tap note. It works completely transparently with a keyboard, gamepad, or any other input method you choose to use.

There is one false positive because it is a custom DLL file. If you are nervous about that, you are highly encouraged to clone the repository linked above and compile it yourself. Installation Instructions

Step one is to download xinput1_3.dll from the zip in the Files tab.

Step two is to copy xinput1_3.dll into your GHWTDE game folder, which is the exact same folder where your GHWT_Definitive.exe is located.

Step three is to launch the game. All notes will behave as taps immediately, with no extra configuration needed.

Verification & Uninstall

To verify it is working, start any song and press the fret keys without strumming. Every note should register perfectly.

To uninstall the mod, simply delete xinput1_3.dll from the game folder. The original strum behavior will be restored immediately.
