📋 About This Mod
Press F4 and random bugs become elite mini-bosses: 18 types, each with its own name, glowing eyes, powers and a special attack you have to dodge. Phantoms hide among fake copies, Scorchers send walls of fire, Chameleons change element

Press F4 in your save and a small share of the bugs in the yard become elites. Each one has a name, glowing eyes in its type's colour, a flame on its back, and its own way of fighting. Press F4 again and they all go back to normal.
About 1 in 20 bugs becomes an elite and about 1 in 200 becomes a Titan. There are Rare, Frequent and Chaos versions under Files if you want them rarer or a lot more common.
This took a lot of hours of coding, and it's just something I wanted in my own game, so I figured I'd share it. I think it's kind of insane how much it ended up doing, and I hope you enjoy it.
What every elite has
- A name over its health bar that tells you its type. Every Chameleon is "Identity Crisis", every Scorcher is "Spicy Death Nugget", and so on. The word after it is just what kind of bug it is.
- Glowing eyes and a glow in its type's colour, and a flame on its back
- 20-60% more health, depending on type
- It uses its own species' attacks more often than a normal bug
- It screeches the moment it notices you
- Double loot, double the chance at that bug's rare trinket, and 25 raw science when you kill it
Half the types also have a special attack you have to dodge. It always starts the same way, with a flash at the bug and a screech, so you get a warning. Stun the bug and it can't use it.
The eighteen types
Each one is listed as: NAME ON THE HEALTH BAR - type (glow colour).
ABSOLUTE UNIT - Juggernaut (blue)
What it does: takes less damage, its hits stun, and it keeps changing size. Big form is slow and hits much harder. Small form is fast and attacks far more often.
Special attack: three shockwave rings roll outward from it.
How to deal with it: each ring has a gap in a different place. Go through the gap.
MURDER GREMLIN - Berserker (red)
What it does: small, very fast, attacks far more often, and gets faster the lower its health goes.
How to deal with it: kill it quickly. It only gets worse.
KABOOM BABY - Bomber (yellow)
What it does: shockwaves and explosions on its hits, and it explodes when it dies.
Special attack: sparks mark five spots around you, one under your feet, then they blow up one after another. It does this twice.
How to deal with it: get off the sparks, and back away before you land the killing blow.
COUNT SUCKULA - Vampire (pink)
What it does: heals itself every time it hits you. When it gets low it runs and regenerates fast.
How to deal with it: don't let up once it's hurt.
SPICY DEATH NUGGET - Scorcher (orange)
What it does: burns you, hurts to hit, and every so often throws a big ring of fire around the whole fight. Inside the ring is safe. Crossing it is not.
Special attack on foot: it wraps itself in fire so you have to back off, then sends a wall of fire at you with one gap in it.
Special attack flying: it rings you in fire where you stand, then sends a streak of fire along the ground straight at you. When it dives at you, fire erupts under it.
How to deal with it: find the gap in the wall. Sidestep the streak.
ZAPPY DOOM NOODLE - Shocker (cyan)
What it does: shocks and tasers on its hits.
Special attack flying: it screeches, knocks you back, and sends three streaks of lightning along the ground at where you were standing.
Special attack on foot: its eyes flash, a cage of lightning goes up around you, and sparks mark where bolts are about to land. One is always under your feet.
How to deal with it: keep moving sideways. Never stand on a spark.
KILLER POPSICLE - Frost (ice white)
What it does: tough, hurts to hit, and chills you when you stand close.
Special attack: a gust of frost along the ground straight at you, then two more either side of it.
How to deal with it: step between the gusts. Don't hug it.
GEAR GOBLIN - Tang (teal)
What it does: wrecks your gear's durability, splashes acid, and repeats its species' big move two or three times in a row (a wasp's shot, an earwig's roll).
Special attack: two streams of sour splashes weave toward you like a braid.
How to deal with it: stand in a pocket between where the streams cross.
POCKET ARMY - Splitter (purple)
What it does: kill it and it
