What it does

Adds an editable search field near the normal player inventory. Uses Grim Dawn's native item-search predicate, normalization and locale handling. Matching items stay visible; nonmatching items are dimmed. Equipped items are excluded.

Standalone inventory search for the normal Grim Dawn UI. No replacement UI records, game artwork or catalogues are installed. In vanilla UI, look directly below the main inventory grid for the dark search field and X button.

Features and testing

Editable inventory search, native item matching, nonmatch dimming and keyboard focus that prevents hotbar/pause actions while typing. One query is shared across bags and evaluated against each bag's displayed inventory.

Falendar tested the packaged beta with vanilla UI, supplied screenshots showing matching pants staying bright, and confirmed lower resolutions work. Exact lower resolutions/UI scales were not recorded; this is not certification of every scale or interaction. Clear/reset and the broader interaction matrix remain available in the included source checklists.

Requirements

Windows 64-bit Grim Dawn v1. 3. 0. 8, matching the inspected code. Testing setup had all DLC installed. The mod does not explicitly require a particular DLC; configurations without DLC are untested. Other patches/distributions are not supported without deliberate binding validation.

Ultimate ASI Loader by ThirteenAG, x64.

Microsoft Visual C++ v14 x64 Redistributable.

Neither loader nor redistributable is bundled.

Installation

1. Exit Grim Dawn completely.

2. Find the game's existing x64 directory beside its 64-bit Grim Dawn.exe. Steam example: Steam/steamapps/common/Grim Dawn/x64/. Use your actual library path.

3. If no compatible x64 ASI loader is installed, download official x64 dinput8.dll from ThirteenAG's releases and place it beside that executable. Do not overwrite an unidentified proxy DLL or another mod's loader.

4. Copy this ZIP's x64/inventorysearch.asi into the game's existing x64 directory. Optional settings go in x64/inventorysearch/inventorysearch.ini. Do not create x64/x64/.

5. Launch the x64 game, load a character and open inventory. Click the search field to type; the X clears it. Escape or clicking outside leaves typing focus.

Keep the license and credit documents with the download.

Updating

Exit the game; back up the previous ASI outside loader folders, then replace inventorysearch.asi. Retain your INI unless a changelog requests changes. Keep only one loaded copy. Leave other mods and the shared loader intact; restart and test.

Uninstallation

Exit the game and remove only x64/inventorysearch.asi and its optional inventorysearch settings/log folder. Leave loaders used by other mods intact. Source inspection found no save-file access or ownership, transfer or serialization hooks. Uninstalling requires no save conversion and does not edit saves. The full save/reload interaction checklist has not been individually certified.

Compatibility

Tested with vanilla UI on Grim Dawn v1. 3. 0. 8 x64. Basic search/display and lower-resolution operation confirmed by Falendar on the packaged 0. 1. 1-beta.

Controller, multiplayer and other game versions: Untested.

Alternate scale/resolution combinations and the full interaction matrix remain incomplete.

Known issues

Experimental reverse-engineered ASI pinned to inspected code; version/fingerprint mismatches disable it. Nonmatches are overlays and retain native mouse hit-testing. If no safe space fits, search and filtering are suppressed. Equipment is excluded. No custom search parser is added. Logging requires write access to the mod's own folder; query text is not logged.

For support send x64/inventorysearch/inventorysearch.log, patch, resolution/UI scale, other mods and reproduction steps. Share crash dumps privately if needed; do not post saves or dumps publicly.
