📋 About This Mod
Grim Dawn is large and your character is fat and slow. This mod will alter the base run speed by 1.5x. Or 1.62x since the game runs internally on some kind of communist math idk Point being, gotta go fast
Description
I made this because all the other movement speed mods I could find no longer run since Asterkarn. If that's not the case well then I wasted a few hours sucks for me.
Anyway,
There are several files. You only need one or two, but you can take them all if you want to.
PatchBaseSpeed.bat and RestoreBaseSpeed.bat (inside the Patch_Speed_no_mods_required zip) will alter the game files directly, without the need to run a separate mod. This will allow you to either play in main campaign mode, or use whatever other mod(s) you prefer, and not have to go through the pain in the assery that is merging Grim Dawn mods. Because this alters core game files, Steam "verify integrity" or downloading a patch will undo this change.
These two files should be placed in the main game directory (steamapps/common/Grimdawn usually).
PatchBaseSpeed implements the 1. 5x speed change, RestoreBaseSpeed undoes it and sets movement speed back to default. Just double click either batch file once they're unzipped to run it. It may take a few minutes to complete.
Due to the aforementioned jank communist internal game math, your base speed may be represented as 100%, 139%, 161%, or 162%, but you should be moving faster regardless.
RunSpeedFix_150x gives a similar effect but in mod format. It alters the base speed, and stacks multiplicatively with any ingame speed buffs/gear you have. This alters the files femalepc01.dbr, malepc01.dbr and may conflict with other comprehensive mods.
RunSpeedPak_150x_Cap200 alters the ingame movement speed stat instead, using gameengine.dbr. If using another mod that touches this, put that mod after this one in load order. I should probably mention at this point that the only mod merger tool I'm aware of is six years old and probably won't work, hence the batch files above.
RunSpeedPak_150x alters balancingadjustment_mp+difficulty_players01.dbr, giving the same speed boost, however, this does NOT raise the ingame speed cap past 135%. The purpose of this is that it is the least likely to conflict with other mods, and if merged with another mod, like Die Another Day, that includes an ingame speed cap increase, then you will get the full effect and move at 162%.
These folders should be placed in the Grimdawn/mods directory like most mods.
Installation instructions
For PatchBaseSpeed and RestoreBaseSpeed, just download/unzip them into the main game directory, IE steamapps/common/Grimdawn.
For everything else, unzip the folders into the Grimdawn/mods folder.
Main features
Requirements
Grim Dawn v1. 3. 0. 8. I tested this while having all DLC. It should work on vanilla or with any combination of DLC, but I can't guarantee it.
Shout outs
Deepseek did most of it lol
