# Pickup Doctor — changelog
## Read this before you install
Back up your save. Green Hell keeps them in
`%USERPROFILE%\AppData\LocalLow\Creepy Jar\Green Hell\`. Copy the folder. It takes ten seconds, and
it is the right thing to do before any mod that touches your backpack.
### The one thing worth knowing
Green Hell empties the inventory grid and repacks it whenever it tidies your backpack. On a very
full pack the repack does not always fit everything back in, and in an unmodded game the overflow
is destroyed, silently, with no message at all.
This mod watches for that and puts the items back. It has done so successfully — 295 items restored
in a single go. It is a genuine safety net and it ships on, but it is still young code, and it
is standing over a part of the game that already loses things.
### If something does go missing
The mod tells you: a red message across the middle of the screen, and a block in
`BepInEx\LogOutput.log` beginning `ITEM(S) WENT MISSING`. Send me that log. It names every item
and what happened to it, and it is the only thing that makes a report actionable.
Everything below is new since the first release. All of it ships on and all of it can be switched off
in the settings window — F10.
### Crafting from your backpack
Recipes on the game's own right-click menu. Right-click an ingredient in your pack and the recipe
is there, no walk to a crafting table:
2 small sticks → a stick
4 sticks + 1 rope → a long stick
4 sticks + 3 small sticks + 2 ropes → a fire board
10 sticks + 4 ropes → a log
These are new content, not a convenience — they are not in the base game. If you want the vanilla
recipe set only, turn Crafting off. The recipe list itself is a setting, so you can change it, cut it
down, or write your own.
Roll the wheel to choose how many. Dial the count, confirm on the button that slides out beside
the row — the game's own confirm, the same one destroying an item uses. The count turns red the moment
you ask for more than you can pay for, and the entry still shows when you cannot afford it, so you can
see what a thing costs instead of guessing why it is missing.
Big things stay decisions. Logs are made one at a time with the game's own animation, a few
seconds each. Ask for five and you watch five get made; walk away and the rest is cancelled. They land
in a spread arc in front of you rather than in a pile under your feet, and your movement and camera
are handed back properly when a batch ends.
Scroll on Eat to choose how many. The same wheel gesture as crafting a count, on the Eat row. It
follows your cursor, so scrolling over Eat dials eating and scrolling over Harvest still dials
harvesting — a mushroom offers both.
It stops when the next one would mostly spill. Not "is the bar full" — how much of this item
will actually land in you. By default the last one is eaten if at least half of what it gives fits,
and skipped if more than half would be wasted. Measured across everything the food carries at once, so
a piece of meat with fat and protein is one item and one decision. Dial ten, be satisfied at four, and
the other six are still in your pack.
It tells you what you actually took in — the bars read before and after, not the food's own
numbers multiplied out. Ate 3 x Mushroom +27 carbs. If it stops early it says why: stopped: only
30% of the next one would land.
### Spoiled food
Harvest everything spoiled in one gesture — whatever still gives something comes out, item by item
becomes one press.
Clear what gives nothing. Destroying a spoiled stack clears every other worthless spoiled item
with it, in one click.
### The backpack
Sorting no longer freezes the game. Green Hell rebuilds the entire inventory on every single
insert and removal, and a sort removes and reinserts everything — over a thousand full rebuilds for
one sort of a large pack. That is where the multi-second freeze came from. It is now one rebuild.
Anything a sort loses is put straight back. The mod records what your backpack held, compares it
after, and restores the difference. It does not predict — it measures. If something genuinely cannot
go back it lands in a tight pile at your feet with a red warning telling you to collect it. If
everything was restored, it says nothing, because
