📋 About This Mod
Fixes prop collision and make it look like vanilla
Description
Restores classic 2004 RenderWare prop physics and fragment behavior to Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas – The Definitive
In the Definitive Edition, street props run on a hybrid architecture: the game tracks world physics and vehicle
collisions in RenderWare, while fractured meshes are handed off to Unreal Engine 4's PhysX. Because Unreal lacks world
collision meshes for the terrain and roads, broken props originally plunged through the map, froze in place, or
vanished abruptly.
This plugin eliminates the falling-through-world bugs and restores the original RenderWare simulation and
BreakObject_c fragment handling. Knocked-over objects collide naturally with vehicles, buildings, and ground, while
broken pieces tumble, lay flat, bounce realistically, and sink beneath the surface instead of popping out of
existence.
Installation instructions
1. Download and install an x64 ASI Loader compatible with the Definitive Edition (such as Ultimate ASI Loader dxgi.dll
2. Extract the archive contents:
- GTA_Prop_Fix.asi
- GTA_Prop_Fix.ini
3. Paste both files into your game executable directory:
<GameRoot>\Gameface\Binaries\Win64\
4. (Optional) Open GTA_Prop_Fix.ini in any text editor to adjust lifetimes, ground plane dimensions, fading times, or
toggles between whole-pole and breakable modes.
5. Launch the game.
Main features
- Original 2004 Piece Simulation (BreakObject_c): Fragments inherit real object.dat break velocities and directional
scatter, simulate 2G gravity, and break all physics asset joints to move independently.
- Accurate Ground Collision: Generates an invisible, dynamic 30m ground plane beneath broken debris, stopping
fragments from falling into the void. Fragments only collide with the ground, allowing cars and peds to pass through
- Natural Tumble & Alignment: Pieces tumble briefly upon impact and reorient along their thinnest axis to lay flat on
the road, rather than remaining unnaturally upright or frozen mid-air.
- Smooth Despawn (No Popping): Avoids sudden bone disappearing glitches. Debris gradually sinks below the road surface
during the fade window before being removed, ensuring all pieces are fully hidden without visual pop-in.
- RenderWare Collision for Dislodged Props: Props knocked loose whole (hydrants, bins, signs, fences) utilize
RenderWare's native collision data, mass, elasticity, and uproot limits against vehicles and terrain.
- Procedural Collision Generation: Procedurally generates collision spheres along meshes that lack full collision
bounds (such as traffic signals), preventing them from hanging into the floor.
- Street Light & Tilt Controls: Streetlights tilt, disconnect, and switch off their lights upon falling, matching
classic entity logic.
- Configurable Settings: Fully customizable behavior via GTA_Prop_Fix.ini (debris lifetime, fade speed, whole-pole
fall vs. shattering, pushability).
Requirements
- x64 ASI Loader (e.g. Ultimate ASI Loader dxgi.dll x64).
Shout outs
- gta-reversed team: For reverse-engineering the original 2004 PC executable (CObject, CPhysical, and BreakObject_c),
which served as the reference for accurate physics math and fragment logic.
- Tsuda Kageyu: For the MinHook (https://github.com/TsudaKageyu/minhook) hooking library.
- Encryqed: For the Dumper-7 Unreal Engine SDK generator.
- The GTA modding community: For ongoing documentation and tool development across the Trilogy Definitive Edition
releases.
