Increase Boat Speed

Description

This is a small boat speed mod for God of War. It slightly increases boat movement speed so traveling around the Lake of Nine feels a little less slow without making the boat feel ridiculous or breaking the pace of the game. I wanted something subtle, so this is meant to feel more like a quality of life tweak than a cheat mod.

The default value is set to 6. 5., which felt a little faster in testing without causing issues for me. You can raise or lower the speed in the Lua file if you want it stronger or more subtle.

Installation instructions

  []Make sure Lua script loading is enabled in loader_config.toml.[/]

  []Place boat_speed_test.lua directly into your main mods folder.[/]

Launch the game normally after that. If you want to change the speed, open the Lua file with Notepad or Notepad++ and edit this line:

local BOAT_SPEED = 6. 5

Lower the number for a smaller boost or raise it if you want the boat to move faster. I would recommend staying around the default since boat sections can be tied to dialogue, docking, and loading triggers.

Main features

Slightly increases boat speed.

Only applies the speed boost while Kratos is in a boat.

Clears the speed override after leaving the boat so it should not affect normal movement.

Fully adjustable by changing one number in the Lua file.

Lightweight standalone script, so it is easy to remove if you do not want it anymore.

Requirements

Script Loader and Gameplay Tweaks at God of War is required.

Lua script loading needs to be enabled in loader_config.toml.

Microsoft Visual C++ 2022 Redistributable may also be required by the script loader itself.

This was tested with the PC version of God of War. I would recommend making a manual save before using any gameplay script mod, especially since moving too fast in some areas could possibly skip dialogue or loading triggers.
