GoT Translation Tool

This tool is a localization editor for XPPS files located in the gapack_misc_l.psarc archive.

To use it, you must first use GoT Extractor to extract the files and then use it again to repack them.

PS: I’ve never used this tool before, so I’m not sure if it works perfectly. Change a few simple lines first like 'SSAO', 'HBAO', or 'New Game' before diving into a full-blown translation. I’d love hear your feedback.

The tool offers several simple features:

  []Limited editing (length based on original text)

  []Exporting to JSON (for external editing or feeding your deep learning language models)

  []And importing JSON. The import feature automatically handles truncation (to prevent crashes), punctuation cleanup, and abbreviation processing.

  []Finally, you can export the file back to XPPS format.

  To repack your files:

  • []Save modified .xpps into a folder, don't change XPPS name.

    []Create a text file named filenames.txt in the same folder.

    []Add the name of the XPPS file inside filenames.txt.

    []Repack it as PSARC.

    []Rename PSARC to "gapack_misc_z_{something_something}.psarc"

  • Put it into "cache_pc/psarc" folder

    You cannot enter text that is longer than the original text. This tool is a simplified Hex Editor that simply assists in locating and mapping the text within the XPPS file.

    All subtitle strings always start at offset 0x494 and always end with the sentence: 'I don't want to let them know I am here until I'm on the other side of the gate,' regardless of the localization language. I don't have any fucking clue what that means. I tried to move tons of pointers so we can have more flexible translation, but it always crashes the game, missing string, or horrible text cutoff such as the image below. So, at this moment, this is the best we can do for translation.

    P. S.: I haven't tested this tool yet, as I only use Python as a translation tool, which is far easier than a GUI.
