Tank Prototype

A tracked vehicle with a 12L flat-12 engine and a Merritt-Brown triple differential gearbox which allows it to neutral turn and also lowers the steering effect in higher gears. This version has a stronger gearbox than my last upload, which would have issues at high speed caused by small gears spinning faster than the game allows. It also features variable steering. The steering brakes can use anywhere from 0 to 100% of their torque because they are controlled by the steering wheel angle. The gearbox puts itself into neutral when you activate the starter motor, so there's no need to find neutral yourself. I've copied the track and drive gear design from AL Magma's Cyber Saw. Every track I've made has ended up jamming or slipping, but this one just works perfectly. Top speed is about 21km/h. Similar to the Churchill which I've based the engine and gearbox on. Fully vanilla apart from the null links to keep the tracks on because I don't like the look of the scaffold blocks hanging in the air after you unfreeze it. Like any tracked vehicle, it works best at max simulation settings, but surprisingly it seems okay at default. You'll want to turn off contact detection though just for the noise. Sometimes the higher gears, especially third, like to just stop working. Just freeze and unfreeze and see if it works again. Not sure what causes that.
