Virginia Class SSN

This is my rendition of the Virginia-Class nuclear attack submarine currently operated by the US Navy. When it comes to submarine designs in-game, I'd say her handling is a lot easier than the Type VII U-Boat I made. There isn't much to her overall design and interior. Again, I need to revisit most of my designs over time and release updates with spaces filled out and the like. However, this SSN meets the basics for user enjoyment. Her speed is excellent, making her a true "fast attack" submarine. One of the other fine points is how gracefully she submerges and how steadily she maintains even trim below the surface. Her surfacing can be a little wild, but you can fiddle with the hydroplanes to steady her while surfacing. Rather than make a central control space that's "accurate," I made one that gives the feel of being in a cramped sub while offering a few fine features. Due to her speed, I found it hard to let my avatar roam around at full speed. I advise sitting in the chairs while operating this sub and switching from each to conduct diving and surfacing evolutions. You can control the entire sub from these two chairs. On the left is the vehicle controller where you adjust the engine speed, rudder angle, and dive planes. On the right is the complex controller for blowing your ballast tanks. I installed a tank to show you the percentages of your ballast and a hydroplane to show you your dive plane angles. She boasts four bow torpedo tubes and that's essentially it for now. I though of trying to install vertically launched cruise missile tubes in the bow (making her an SSGN), but that effort proved to be too invasive of her basic design, which impacted her handling and seaworthiness. That being said, she's a somewhat simple design, but highly efficient and capable for what she was designed for. I will certainly be taking the lessons learned on this build with me into future submarine projects if I decide to build any. (I've a mind to build both an Ohio SSBN and Gat
