Basic Destroyer Hull

The smallest hull in the "Basic Series", the destroyer is a cheap, but effective weapons platform. Excellent for new players due to its simplicity and lack of air compartment complications. Coming in at under 150k RP, the destroyer is a small ship. However, like all the Basic Series ships, she includes armor around the waterline, a powerful engine, 100% beam design, and a triple layered wooden deck. The unique air-compartment-free design allows the ship to take extreme punishment for three reasons: -First, the ship remains afloat regardless of damage recieved (also negating any risk of capsize or tilt); -Second, being flooded with water slows down the effects of shells that have penetrated the outer hull, taking the edge off of high velecity shells; -Third, the ship sits very low in the water without worry of sinking, presenting a small target for enemy guns, and forcing hostile shells to pass though water. This extreme survival comes with every Basic Series hull, so why choose the destroyer as your gun platform? The destroyer is small and agile. It lacks in punch, but makes up for it by being cheap and easy to manufacture. A few of these ships providing specialist roles such as repair, anti-air, or artillery support can make a fine addition to any fleet. Also, these destoyers can perform light picket duty or recon in less intense theatres of operation, freeing up the larger ships for important zones. The engine is a patented "Turkey-Leg" design, capable of immense power in a small space. If you find you need more space and less engine, simply remove cylinders from the front of the engine.
