Howl's Moving Castle - Porthaven Class Battleship

The Porthaven class battleships were a group of five ships ordered for the Ingarian navy. The navy required a ship capable of breaking shore batteries and defenses as well as being able to attack other warships. These ships featured very prominent heavy artillery turrets amidships and astern along with three main turrets ahead of the superstructure. These three main turrets were added specifically for the purpose of engaging other ships as the heavy artillery lacked the range and penetration to fight other heavy ships. The Porthaven class ships did not see action until the outbreak of war nearly forty years later. At this point the ships were rapidly becoming outdated but remained in service. The Ingarian military had begun to prioritize the development of airships and continued to maintain the old fleet. --------------------------------------------------------------------- This is, of course, from the Studio Ghibli film 'Howl's Moving Castle'
