Simple Saturation Increase (File Edit)

Description

Forza Horizon 6 is a great looking game, but me and other people have had gripes with the game's color grading, finding it washed out and dull at times, especially compared to Forza Horizon 4 and Forza Horizon 3. With FM8 (which had a similar issue), people did color grading mods to fix this but since its been a few months already and people have not done this for FH6, I thought maybe this new version of the engine removed such capabilities.

Turns out, nope. With a simple edit of the DefaultTrackSettings.xml file that controls generic visual parameters for the entire game in all scenes, you can change a lot of stuff, including the saturation. The <SaturateAmount> field in that file can be edited as you please. There are also plenty of other parameters to edit in that file and TimeOfDay.xml

This mod offers two options

1. Saturation Increase

This is an edit of the file with the <SaturateAmount> value set at 1. 3, which for my calibrated neutral display matches the color grading that Forza Horizon 3 had. Depending on your display and tastes, you may want a higher or lower value, so edit the file after replacing it as you please.

2. Contrast Increase

This is an edit of a bunch of values in both DefaultTrackSettings.xml and TimeOfDay.xml with the goal of increasing contrast, the strength/saturation of lighting elements and the skybox, and darkening nighttime slightly. This is a more subtle change then the first option, however it is much more natural/realistic looking, plays better with photo mode stuff, and does not affect the colors of the car much.

P. S: I would have added before and after comparisons but getting the game to show the exact scene in the exact lighting conditions twice in a row is a total pain.

Installation instructions

Download the mod, which comes as a "media" folder, and drop it in the game's base directory, click replace, do not delete anything.
