The incredible map that his is, has incredible logic behind its fort placements. In order to have a somewhat close quarters map, but still allow for forts to build massive bases without blocking eachother, the forts are decently spread out vertically. To give more space to the bottom three bases, bottom gets an expansion down to build weapons, and mid-top an expansion above to build weapon platforms. This should allow the middle of the three forts to build up without blocking the base behind him. Furthermore, this middle base gets an underground area where turbines may be constructed, which helps with expanding without having miserable turbine efficiency due to your teammates bases. One considerable downside to the highly spread out vertically forts, is that the angle from top base on the other teams bottom base is really hard to defend. This is why front base is given an additional mine placement to allow up to 7 mines (other bases are all allowed 6 mines if they sell a front metal bit), as front base is traditionally the one to take most fire as well. On top of this, top's core is placed relatively more forwards on his fort and therefore harder to defend.
