📋 About This Mod
Replaces shopkeeper sprites with ones more befitting their NES counterparts.
This mod replaces the sprites used for innkeepers, weapon shopkeepers, armor shopkeepers, item shopkeepers, and magic shopkeepers with sprites more befitting their original counterparts in the NES/Famicom version. All credit for the new sprites for all of those positions go to MrEsturk, who created them for their Replacement NPCs for palette swaps and all merchants mod (used with the author's permission). In addition, I've also made mild changes to the vanilla PR sprites for the church priest and the caravan shopkeeper to make them better reflect their original NES/Famicom counterparts; the priest now has a proper cross on his miter, while the caravan shopkeeper now has white robes instead of tan and his headband is red-and-gold-striped.
All NPCs in the above positions should now be changed, with the exception of Elfheim, where only the magic shopkeepers and priest are affected (the other merchants there all use the regular Elf sprites, which this mod doesn't change). Mostly this just involved replacing the sprites, since the PRs are pretty consistent in which sprites they use for which position, but minor map edits were required in the Pravoka Inn and the Pravoka Armor Shop to give them the proper sprites, since they were exceptions (for some reason, they used the dancer sprite and the item shop merchant sprite, respectively).
Alternate versions of the magic shopkeepers with more "normal" skintones, also taken from MrEsturk's Replacement NPCs mod, are also included. So is a version of the priest without the miter, as seen in the US NES version's "Clinic." These can be found in folders in the main mod directory (StreamingAssets/Magicite/NES Shopkeepers). To use them, copy the appropriate subdirectory/directories - mo_ff1_n004_c00 for the White Magic shopkeeper, mo_ff1_n005_c00 for the Black Magic shopkeeper, and mo_ff1_n041_c00 for the Clinician - into the main mod directory and choose to replace files when asked.
Installation instructions:
This mod requires Magicite. Once Magicite is installed, unzip this into your main FFI PR directory (in your Steam directory, it's usually steamapps/common/FINAL FANTASY PR).
