Behold the Beholder (PC and Switch)

If you don't already know, the first Final Fantasy game is heavily based on Dungeons & Dragons, to the point that they had to make some minor changes to the US release to avoid potential lawsuits. The biggest of those changes made was turning the Beholder and Death Beholder - both of which are clearly version of D&D's beholders - into the Evil Eye and Death Eye, with corresponding graphic change.

This mod restores the Beholder and Death Beholder's names and graphics. I've based those graphics on the original sprites used for the NES and MSX versions, but I've attempted to up the color usage and shading to a point more resembling the other Pixel Remaster enemies. Not entirely sure whether I succeeded, but I don't hate it, at least?

This mod now has a Switch version, thanks to Scribe from the Moogles and Mods Discord!

Installation instructions:

PC: This mod requires Magicite, and installation just involves unzipping the Behold the Beholders directory into your Magicite directory. It uses Magicite partials (meaning the only text lines it edits are the lines with the names of the two enemies), so it should play nice with any other Magicite text mods you have that also use partials. (It doesn't play well with Memoria partials, though, so you may have to do some fiddling to make it work there.)

Switch: Replace the .bundle files.
