Gradual Grass Grazing

Main Features

• []Grass shrinks before vanishing. Each graze on a grass patch steps it down one real growth stage — Large → Medium → Small — using the game's own growth stages and sprites, just running in reverse. Only once a patch is already at its smallest stage does a graze finally remove it. A mature patch takes up to 3 grazes to clear; a patch that was already small goes faster. [/]

  []Feeding and rewards stay vanilla. Heart points, ranching XP, and Currency of Care beads all still come from the game's own systems. This mod only changes what happens to the plant afterward.[/]

  []Balanced, not overpowered. Regrowth after a graze is intentionally slower than the game's natural growth pace, so grass doesn't become an infinite, zero-effort resource. Grass Spreader Seeds and smart pen layout still matter, especially as your herd grows.[/]

  []Crops are completely untouched. This mod only affects grass. Livestock grazing on crops works exactly as it would with the mod uninstalled. Full harvest behavior, full rewards, no changes at all.[/]

  []One settings toggle. A "Gradual Grazing" checkbox under Settings controls everything. Turn it off for fully vanilla grazing (gone on the first bite). No restart required.[/]

  []No save data changes. This mod never touches your save file's structure, only what happens to a grass tile the moment livestock finish eating it.[/]

  []That's it — grazing behavior changes automatically. The "Gradual Grazing" checkbox appears under Settings if you want to toggle it off.[/]

Not compatible with the original "Livestock Friendly Grazing" mod this one was built from — both wrap the same base-game animal code, so running both at once will cause conflicts. Remove the older mod first if you have it installed.

Credits

Originally based on Livestock Friendly Grazing by MiNistria. Since then substantially reworked: crop protection removed, and grass protection rebuilt from a permanent "never destroyed" rule into the visible, balanced, gradual system described above.
