📋 About This Mod
A mod loader for native mods (DLL files). This should work for any 64-bit game that uses xinput1_3.dll, but has only been tested on FF7R.
What does it do?
This mod does not change the game on its own, but is instead a platform for other native mods. This mod will automatically inject DLL files from the NativeMods directory in the game's root path.
Installation
-
[]Put xinput1_3.dll next to ff7remake_.exe in End/Binaries/Win64, NOT next to ff7remake.exe in the game's base path.
[
]Create a NativeMods directory in the game's base path, NOT in End/Binaries/Win64. For Steam, the path of the NativeMods directory will be something like C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\FINAL FANTASY VII REMAKE\NativeMods[]Put other native mods into the NativeMods directory
Uninstallation
Just remove xinput1_3.dll. The mods in NativeMods will no longer load, so you can remove those too if you want, and files associated with them.
FAQ
Does this work with FFVIIHook?
Yes. Install this mod loader, and then put the xinput1_3.dll file from FFVIIHook into NativeMods. You can rename FFVIIHook's DLL to something else if you want, as long as it's in the NativeMods directory.
Do I need this?
Maybe. If another mod says it requires this mod loader, yes. If another mod says it needs a DLL injector but does not specify which, this can load it. If you're trying to use multiple mods with DLL files of the same name (e.g. xinput1_3.dll), this mod loader can usually resolve that conflict. This mod loader will not do anything if you're only using pak mods, and it is unnecessary (but will still work) if you're just using a single self-injecting DLL mod such as FFVIIHook.
Does this work with native mods that replace files other than xinput1_3.dll?
That depends on the mod. In general, if a mod says to place it next to ff7remake_.exe and its name is not xinput1_3.dll, I would err on the side of doing what it says. Per the "How does this work?" section below, while many mods simply proxy the original DLL's functions, some may actually change their behavior. For example, I would not try to put a ReShade DLL into the NativeMods directory.
If a mod is a standalone DLL that requires injection and does not replace a standard Windows DLL, it should work if you put it in NativeMods.
What other native mods are there?
Here's the ones I know of (if you make your own that you want me to list, share it in a comment!):
- []FFVIIHook
- Improved Keyboard and Mouse Controls (by me!)
