VAT - Vault Admin Terminal

Description

A debug and creative panel for Fallout Shelter. Give yourself any resource, item, pet or dweller in the game, build dwellers to order, and run vault wide jobs in one press.

It is built from the game's own interface, so it looks like part of the game. No Harmony patches, so it does not clash with other mods. Everything you grant or create is real and stays in your vault after the mod is removed.

There is one optional file on this page, VAT - Pet Workshop, which adds the animal bench. Both are installed below.

Installation

1. The mod

• []Install BepInEx 5. 4.x, the x64 Unity Mono build, into the folder with FalloutShelter.exe.[/]

  []Run the game once and close it.[/]

  []Extract VAT - Vault Admin Terminal into that same folder, so the DLL lands in BepInEx\plugins\VaultAdmin.dll.[/]

  []Start the game. Open the panel with the button in the top left, under the dwellers button, or with F8.[/]

There is nothing to switch on. From 1. 0. 4 the panel is on as installed. Versions before that shipped disabled and needed a line changed in a config file first, and updating does not undo that: BepInEx never rewrites a config file it already has, so if yours says Enabled = false it still means no panel. Open BepInEx\config\ovolo.falloutshelter.vaultadmin.cfg and set it to true once.

If no button appears, it is one of three things, in the order worth checking. Is VaultAdmin.dll directly in BepInEx\plugins rather than in a folder inside it? Some extractors create BepInEx\plugins\BepInEx\plugins, and a DLL one level too deep is never found. Is your BepInEx the x64 Unity Mono build? The IL2CPP and x86 ones install cleanly here and load nothing. And if you have used an earlier version, is Enabled still false in the config from it? BepInEx\LogOutput.log settles all three: the plugin names itself there on the line it loads, and says so if it loaded and was switched off.

2. The add-on, if you want the animal bench

Read this first. The add-on uses a Harmony patch, so unlike the main file it may affect compatibility with other mods. Nothing is known to break. It simply has not been tested alongside other mods, so if you run a large load order, install it knowing that. The main file is unaffected either way, and removing the add-on undoes it completely.

• []Install the main file above and check the panel opens. The add-on will not load without it.[/]

  []Close the game. A DLL cannot be replaced while the game is holding it.[/]

  []Download VAT - Pet Workshop from the optional files on this page.[/]

  []Extract it into the same game folder, so VaultAdminPets.dll ends up beside VaultAdmin.dll in BepInEx\plugins. Both DLLs go in that one folder.[/]

  []Start the game and enter a vault. There is nothing to configure.[/]

  []Open the panel, go to WORKSHOP, and step the new MAKING row across to PET.[/]

If the MAKING row is not there, both DLLs have to sit directly in BepInEx\plugins, in that one folder, not in a folder inside it: the same trap as above, and the usual reason. The add-on also writes a line into BepInEx\LogOutput.log when it takes effect, so that file tells you whether it loaded at all.

Removing

Close the game first, then delete whichever file you no longer want. There is no cleanup step and nothing else to undo.

• []The add-on only: delete BepInEx\plugins\VaultAdminPets.dll. The animal bench disappears and the panel carries on as normal. Animals you already made keep what they were given.[/]

  []The mod: delete BepInEx\plugins\VaultAdmin.dll. Delete the add-on as well if you have it, since it does nothing without the main file.[/]

Your save keeps everything it was given. Items, pets, dwellers and resources were all made by the game's own calls and are yours whether or not the mod is installed. Vault wide switches such as incidents or the population limit go back to the way the game had them.

You can also leave both files in place and set Enabled = false in BepInEx\config\ovolo.falloutshelter.vaultadmin.cfg, which has the same effect as removing them and is easier to undo.

Back up your save before the first run. Saves are in %LocalAppData%\FalloutShelter.
