      Install

      • []Close Fallout Shelter.

        []Drop the ThemeMod folder into your game folder, next to FalloutShelter.exe. In Steam: right-click the game, Manage, Browse local files.

        []Right-click ThemeMod\install.ps1 and choose Run with PowerShell.

        []Start the game from Steam. Done.

        No script extender. No framework. No dependencies.

        Where the themes are in game

        Wasteland themes - tap the vault door, then the paintbrush icon, then Customize Wasteland Theme.

        Room themes - a room can only wear a theme when it is 3 rooms merged AND at level 3. Upgrade the room, then tap it and the paintbrush appears. This is the game's own rule, not the mod's. The Nuka-Cola and Ultracite themes need those rooms built first.

        Uninstall

        Run ThemeMod\uninstall.ps1. The stock exe goes back.

        Want your save exactly as it was too? Run restore-first-run.ps1 as well - the mod snapshots your saves the very first time it runs and never touches that copy again.

        How it works

        The installer renames the game to FalloutShelter_Original.exe and puts a small launcher in its place. When Steam starts the game the launcher unlocks the themes in your save, then starts the real game and waits for it, so Steam still sees one process for playtime and cloud sync.

        If the theme step ever fails, it is ignored and the game starts anyway. The mod will not stop you playing.

        It merges into your theme list rather than replacing it - anything it does not recognise is left alone, so a theme a future season gives you will not be deleted.

        No game assets are shipped or modified. It is a save edit plus a launcher.

        Known issues

        • []Steam's Verify integrity of game files replaces the launcher and reports "1 file failed to validate". Your themes stay in the save - only the auto-apply stops. Run install.ps1 again.

          []A game update does the same. Same fix.

        • The Steam overlay hooks the launcher rather than the game, so it may not show in game.
