📋 About This Mod
I was disappointed enough with Broken Steels Quantum Chemist to make my own. This one is for the original Fallout 3 only, so no Broken Steel DLC needed/wished. The perk is a lot less easy to get, and has some fundamental changes.
######################################### Quantum Chemist Remade v1. 0 By MisterMonkey ######################################### UPDATE 11th May 2009: Now added a 5 Rads/Second version. This should be a lot easier to find, because 10 Rads/Second rarely happens outside of certain areas. In case you have downloaded the previous one and you want to change, that\'s possible. If you haven\'t gotten the perk yet, you can just disable this mod and enable the other version. If you HAVE gotten the perk already, you\'ll want to uninstall it properly via the instructions here and in the readme, then switch mods. 9th May 2009 (My screenname on the Bethsoft forums is MisterMonkey, but my Nexus account is Maninblack144.) Requirements: The original Fallout 3. That\'s right, no Broken Steel needed! Installation: Copy and paste the contents of this folder (the textures folder and the .esp file) into the Data folder in your Fallout 3 installation folder. Keep in mind that you might want to be outside of the Nuka-Cola Plant when installing it and using it for the first time. Info: I was very disappointed with the Quantum Chemist perk included with the Broken Steel DLC. First of all, it FORCED you to get a Quantum everytime you collected 10 Nuka-Cola\'s. Secondly, no support for Ice Cold Nuka Cola\'s. This was the main drawback, since I have around 200 Ice Cold Nuka-Cola\'s. And lastly, it was a bit boring. Sure, useful, but way too easy and forgiving. That\'s why I made this mod. It adds a different Quamtum Chemist perk. This perk has the following: - No boring levelup-perk. You actually have to explore a bit before you can get it. - Because grabbing blue glow out of thin air makes no sense, you need to be near a radiation source when you combine the Nuka-Cola\'s. I\'ve set the treshold at 10 Rads/Second, but this is easily changeable so I am open to suggestions. This means you need to be affected by at least 10 Rads/Second before you are able to combine the Nuka-Cola\'s. - It also works with Ice Cold Nuka-Cola\'s! - Instead of just selecting the Nuka-Cola in your inventory, thus pausing the radiation effect with your PipBoy up, you actually need to place a Nuka-Cola bottle on the ground and activate it. This makes sense, since the radiation can\'t reach your lead backpack. Conflicts/Bugs: The only Fallout3.esm objects this mod alters are the Nuka-Cola and the Ice Cold Nuka-Cola objects. So any other mod altering these as well will conflict with this mod. This means that the Broken Steel DLC will conflict with this mod. I\'ve named every new object with my initials (MM) in front of the name, so any name conflicts should be rare. The radiation requirement is directly linked to the Rads/Second meter in the top right corner. This means that radiation resistance DOES affect whether or not you are able to create a Quantum. Keep this in mind
