    🧠 Why This Fix Works (and Why Others Don’t)

    Fallout 3 is old enough to rent a car. When it triggers certain legacy DirectX events, Windows thinks:

    “Oh! You must want the Xbox Game Bar overlay!”

    But if Game Bar is disabled, missing, or half‑broken, Windows panics and throws the popup instead. By disabling every subsystem that tries to invoke the overlay — and removing the protocol entirely — this mod stops Windows from even attempting to launch it.
